UPDATE:

This update is on my Credit Card situation which some of you would have read about.

Finally on the 5th January I was able to get the bank to cancel the card and issue a new one. This was after the scammers had managed to rip me off for about $1000 in total and now I am in the process of replacing that (bank has reimbursed about $250 so far) which is somewhat of a struggle but I am getting there slowly. The scam itself went for about 2 months in total with amounts always just under $100 being taken out and the irony of the amounts, $99 and a few cents each time almost matched my Bigpond bills which I thought had been directed debited so at first they went undetected.

So now having to pay massive amounts on my CC, I have since found that I also have to still pay my Bigpond bills as well which has added to the struggle financially.

In all, the scam has cost me around $1800 and that is because not only have they still got $750 which I have to replace with my own $750 making it $1500, I also have to pay $300 to Bigpond because it was not paid when I thought it had been.

Anyway, making inroads slowly into getting it cleared up and I hope the bank replaces the rest ASAP so I can get on with life.

Oh yeah, to top it off, a power strike here on the weekend saw my Vista computer fail and it is now at the Computer surgery for analysis and surgery so as yet I dont know what that is going to cost.

Did I mention that before christmas I blew the ignition up on my car? That cost me $1045 to have repaired by an Auto Electrician.

Anyway, my resolution for this year was to get rid of the depression I have been suffering from as a result of all these unexpected expenses and so far I am holding strong on that.

Life is gunna be great in 2010 :~~:

So sorry you've had a rough run of bad luck HG

That's similar to my resolution. I had such a rotten year (health wise) in 2009, I'm determined to make 2010 my year to live again!

Life IS going to be great in 2010 :~~:

that is shit news HG ... I know all too well the stress and subsequent depression one feels when facing severe financial shocks ... I can empathise completely. Today I decided not to stress as it wont make things any better only worse .. easier said than done but as long as we try we are alive :D

I hope you are able to go through it now with your NYR up front in your mind. I will think of you and all the others in worse situations than myself when I feeling depressed.

The computer has been fixed and I pick it up tomorrow thankfully because this one is just so slow in comparison but at least it works I guess :tu:

After checking all the obvious things such as video card (new 8 months ago), power supply etc and cleaning all the fans which were chockers with dirt and hair and not getting any results, they decided to try it with another HDD and when they disconnected mine, the power lead to the HDD fell apart. It was that badly burnt.

Replaced the power lead to the HDD and it zoomed back into life once again.

The cost. A very reasonable $100 considering the number of hours spent on it and the genuinely needed cleaning of the fan's and heat sink.
